About the Author

Lola Katherine Giusti is a writer deeply inspired by her family history and the stories passed down through generations. Her work, Time Pencils; A Novel of WW2 and the Cretan Resistance, is rooted in the narratives shared by her grandmother, Katina Kostakis Giannakakis, who recounted tales of courage and resilience from her village of Thrapsano Pediados in Crete. Lola’s writing reflects her passion for preserving historical memories and honoring the sacrifices of those who lived through wartime struggles.

Her research for this book was enriched by interviews with family members, including her aunts and cousins, as well as insights from historians and experts on the Battle of Crete. Lola’s dedication to capturing the spirit of the Cretan Resistance is evident in her meticulous storytelling and heartfelt acknowledgments.
